The coordinates of the three vertices of a triangle are (1, 5), (–2b, a) and (–2a ,b). 

Given that a + b = 0 and the area of the triangle is 18 unit². Find the value of a and of b.

Diagram 3 shows a parallelogram ABCD. 

The coordinates of points A, B and C are   (–4, 4), (2, 9) and  (4, 1) respectively. 

Find

(a)    the coordinates the point of intersection of the diagonals AC and BD.     [2 marks]

(b)   the coordinates of the point D.                                                                   [2 marks]

(c)    the area of the parallelogram ABCD.                                                         [3 marks]
