Quadratic function part 1

Assalamualaikum and salam sejahtera..

How are guys. Hopefully all of you #stayathome, #staysafe and #studyathome.

Today we will look at the quadratic functions- part 1.

PLEASE READ AND COPY THE NOTES BELOW.

The basic formula or standard form of quadratic equations is:

 f (x) = ax2 + bx + c.      or        y = ax2 + bx + c

Forming the the quadratic function in factor form. The factor form is

    f(x) = a(x - k)(x - m)   or    y = a(x - k)(x - m)

    where k and m is the x-intercepts.
     .
Concavity review (article) | Khan Academy
For concave up, the value of a is always positive,  a>0.

For concave down, the value of a is always negative,  a<0.

Quadratic Functions and Their Graphs

The vertex for concave up is always at the bottom of the curve, and will represent the lowest value of y. For the above example, the vertex lies at (1, - 4).

The range of the graph is y ≥ - 4.

The line of symmetry will divide the curve equally. It may look like the line of reflection.
The equation of the line of symmetry is always a straight line. For the above example, the equation for the line of symmetry is x = 1, because the straight line is vertical and passing through 1 at x- axis.

Quadratic Functions
For concave down, the vertex lies on top of the curve.

Statistics

Assalamualaikum guys..

While u stay at home, lets do some revision..

What happen to the range, interquartile range, variance and standard deviation when every value of the data is changed uniformly.

Last class I did give u some homework to revise during your holiday..

lets watch the videos.

Video 1 : Adding vs Multiplying.
Please copy the example given inside your notebook. If you don't have it, simply use testpad. Make sure to compile your work nicely.

Video #2 : The Effects of Outliers on Spread and Centre
Outlier is the extreme value in the data. See the effect of it towards mode, median, and mean. You may copy the note and example.

Next, time to test yourself.

I will give your 4 quizzes.... Please complete the quizzes before 11.45pm 26 Mac 2020.
